Unleashing the Power of Music for Positive Change
At Music4Harmony, we believe in the transformative power of music to create a positive influence in the lives of children and disadvantaged communities. Our mission is guided by the conviction that music has the extraordinary ability to heal, inspire, and uplift. We are resolute in our dedication to inspire and introduce children, particularly those within underrepresented communities, to the world of music, aiming to enable them to experience and nurture their artistic potential.
Our Mission in Action:
1. Benefit Concerts for People in Need: Our commitment to creating a better world begins with benefit concerts that make a difference. We organized a Benefit concert for Ukrainian children suffering from the ravages of war, raising over $7,000 in just a few days. We have also held Benefit concerts to raise funds for children with rare diseases, with the proceeds either going to families to cover medical expenses or contributing to research efforts for cures.
2. Portland City Free Lunch + Play Program: In collaboration with the City of Portland and Soundstruck, we proudly bring music to children’s lives during the summer. Our music concerts and instrument petting zoo offer engaging experiences that ignite a lifelong love for the arts.
3. Free Summer Camps and lessons for Children: We offer free summer camps where children can learn to play string instruments. To ensure equal opportunity for all, we’ve made these programs free, thanks to funding from our members who generously donate their music competition scholarships. We also aim to provide free music lessons and instruments to economically disadvantaged children, ensuring that everyone has an equal opportunity to learn music. We believe that every child deserves access to the transformative power of music, regardless of their socioeconomic background.
4. Music Concerts at Libraries: Our outreach extends to libraries, where we host music concerts and instrument petting zoos to inspire children and ignite their passion for learning.
5. Support for Autism and Neurodivergent Individuals: We have partnered with “Autism Mustang Alliance” and “Club Everyone, me and You” to perform at their events, including Talent Shows, Monthly Club Meetings, and Farm Days. Our music brings joy and comfort to these individuals, and our instrument petting zoo allows them to explore their musical potential.
6. Music Concerts at Children’s Hospitals: Our commitment to making a meaningful difference in children’s lives extends to OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital and Randall Children’s Hospital. We perform to bring laughter and joy to children facing health challenges.
7. Music at Retirement Centers and Nursing Homes: We love bringing the joy of music to Senior Living Centers, especially during holiday seasons, to spend quality time with residents and alleviate their feelings of loneliness.
Through our work, we hope to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and disadvantage communities. We believe that music has the power to bring people together, to inspire hope and positivity, and to create a better world for all. We are dedicated to using this power for good, and to helping as many children as possible to thrive and succeed.
