YooJin Kang

Yoojin Kang is a 8th grader at Stoller Middle School. She has been playing violin since she was 6 years old and is currently studying with Hae-Jin Kim. Yoojin won first place in the Jeannette Scott Briggs Scholarship Competition of the middle school division. She has participated in many OMTA Festivals, like the Trula Whelan Concerto Competition. She has contributed to the 2023 OR-ASTA Honors Recital and was a finalist in the junior division of the Oregon Mozart Players Artist Competition. She received second place scholarship in the OMTA competition in 2021 and contributed to other group performances like a string quartet for the Oregon Repertory Singers Youth Choir. She also had the opportunity to have a master class with Alexi Kenney in 2023, the Calder Quartet in2021 in the American String Teacher’s Association of Oregon. Yoojin has been a member of the Portland Youth Philharmonic since the 95th season. She was the 2nd violin principle of their Young String Ensemble in 2020, and also was the 2nd violin principle of their Conservatory Orchestra in 2021.
