Fundraising Concert to Help Isa Fight Rare Disease – Fibromuscular Dysplasia

Isa, a young boy with a deep passion for music, had his dreams shattered when he received the devastating news of a tragic diagnosis just a few months ago. At the tender age of 8, he was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease resulting from Fibromuscular Dysplasia, a rare blood vessel disease that causes abnormal cell development in the artery wall. As a result, one of his kidneys has shrunk to less than half its size due to renal artery stenosis, and he underwent renal angioplasty this February, raising more questions and indicating the likelihood of more procedures in the future.

Prior to his diagnosis, Isa loved nothing more than playing music. He would play the piano, sing, and perform cello duets with his older brother. Last year, he joined the Portland Youth Philharmonic Young String Ensemble, and he was thrilled to be part of the youth orchestra, hoping to spread joy through music with his peers. However, his health condition quickly derailed his musical aspirations, and he was only able to participate for a short time.

In a heartwarming effort to support Isa and his family, Metta Mayes and Katie Liu from the Portland Youth Philharmonic are organizing a Benefit Concert on June 24th at PSU Lincoln Hall, Room 75 at 7 PM. The concert aims to provide relief to Isa’s family during this trying time, and your help would be greatly appreciated. If possible, please attend the concert and contribute by donating to the cause.

Isa is currently receiving treatment at Doernbecher/OHSU, and his family hopes to alleviate the emotional suffering that comes with a rare childhood disease. They want Isa to continue experiencing the joys of his life to come, and they hope that with your help, they can make that happen. Your donation or support in raising awareness for this rare disease could have a significant impact on Isa’s life.

All the funds raised from the concert will go directly towards Isa’s care and any present or future medical expenses. We will be updating Isa’s journey on social media and other outlets, so please consider joining his journey and making a difference in his life.

Your contribution to this cause means the world to us, Isa, and his family. Together, we can make a positive impact and give Isa the chance to continue doing what he loves – playing music.
